Louis-Philippe Poirier, P. Eng., M.Sc.A. is the Director of Operations at Nordic Structures. Beyond overseeing the company’s operations, Mr Poirier manages the construction and project execution team, which includes more than 40 engineers and technicians realizing project throughout North-America.
Mr Poirier earned his engineering degree at McGill in 2003 and completed a Master’s degree at the Polytechnique of Montreal, focused on seismic engineering. Before joining Nordic Structure, he worked 15+ years as a structural engineering consultant. He has overseen institutional, commercial, residential, industrial, mining, infrastructure and bridge projects for SNC-Lavalin, one of the largest engineering firms in North America, where he was the head of engineering services.
During his years as a consultant, Mr. Poirier developed an expertise and a passion for timber projects. He has been a noteworthy leader in pushing the boundaries and designing ‘First of its Kind’ timber structures, including some North American Wood Design and Building Award-winning projects. This work has led Louis-Philippe to join the CSA O86 Technical Committee for engineering Design in Wood, the Canadian wood Standard, which he now serves as the Vice-Chair.
